Accessing impact of IEC material on walk in individuals in ICTC & DSRC situated in Mumbai & konkan region

Objective

  1. To access the impact different IEC material on knowledge, behaviour & communication of “self-referred at risk clients” attending ICTC and DSRC
  2. Identifying limiting factors of effective use of IEC material

Methodology

In this study use of Predesigned Structured questionaries’ based assessment tool is used to assess impact of IEC material on walk in client (at risk) visiting ICTC/DSRC.

Inclusion Criteria All walk in clients at risk visiting ICTC AND DSRC those were giving consents

Exclusion Criteria Provider initiated or referred clients/individuals and those were not giving consent

Study Type Cross sectional study using mix method 8 focus group discussion with minimum 8-10 at selected ICTC and DSRC collocated centres & in depth interview maximum 40 walk in client’s/per site during visit will be conducted with informed consent using designated assessment tool.

Statistical methods to be used: Microsoft Excel and SPSS software

Ethical concerns & management

  1. Local ethics committee approval will be taken.
  2. Consent forms and tool kit of assessment will be validated with help of scientific advisory committee of institute.
  3. Current MSACS & NACO norms will be followed.
  4. Client to willing to enrolled will be excluded.

Implications for HIV/AIDS Programme

  1. Assessing the impact of IEC materials allows for an understanding of whether these materials are effectively influencing attitudes, knowledge, and practices related to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment
  2. It will help to develop “A client-centred approach” & also help in tailor IEC materials to better meet the needs and expectations of service users.
  3. Study results will guide in the development of more targeted and evidence-based IEC strategies, improving the overall effectiveness of public health interventions.
  4. Study will help to identify gaps in IEC & provide insight to fill that gaps.
