MAnaging Diabetes in undernourisHed Underprivileged adultS by mArching beyond Glucocentric AppRoach (MADHUSAGAR)

Objectives

  1. To recruit and characterize body composition of adult diabetics from rural Konkan
  2. Evaluation of clinical and biochemical parameters related to diabetes in the adult diabetics
  3. To identify diabetes subtypes and their association with biochemical and clinical characteristics AND perform genomic study and micro-RNA profiling
  4. Establish modifications in treatment for patients with Lean type 2 diabetes.

Work plan for study

  1. Village based DM screening using glucometer adults (18-70 years)
  2. Diagnose Diabetics with- without complications + Newly diagnosed (Random > 200)
  3. Screened positive – refer to hospital visits for tests & RX
  4. Research to identify subtypes of DM
  5. Study of Genomics and micro RNA profiling
  6. Design new treatment protocols and polices for prevention
