Department of Physiology

Goals

The broad goal of teaching Physiology to the undergraduate students aims at providing the student

  • comprehensive knowledge of the normal functions of the organ systems of the body
  • To facilitate an understanding of the physiological basis of health and diseases.

Educational Objectives

  • To describe the normal functions of all the organ systems, their regulatory mechanisms and interactions of the various systems for well – coordinated total body function.
  • To understand the relative contribution of each organ system in the maintenance of the milieu interior (homeostasis).
  • To explain the physiological aspects of normal growth and development. Analyse the physiological responses and adaptation to environmental stresses.
  • To comprehend the physiological principles underlying pathogenesis and treatment of disease.
  • To correlate knowledge of physiology of human reproductive system in relation to National Family Welfare Program.
  • Be able to conduct, interpret and distinguish between normal and abnormal derived from experimental and investigative data
